Sealed with a Kiss
For some mysterious reason, the Lord has always directed my path of Bible study, everything from popping the topic and title into my mind, to inspiring and confirming His message to me over and over. His clear cut guidance never ceases to amaze me. In obedience to God’s Word, I do my best to study to show myself approved (2 Tim 2:15), pray without ceasing (1 Thess 5:17), and seek the prayers of my fellow intercessors. I frequently say I am not ready to teach a lesson until God “kisses” it. The confirming revelations then come from far and wide from many contributing sources. Truly, I have nothing worthwhile to say until I first hear from the Spirit of the living God.
While preparing for a recent women’s retreat in northern California, I felt the prompting of the Holy Spirit concerning this inexplicable phenomena, which blesses me beyond measure. Deep in my heart, I heard the Lord speaking to me, “These are the kisses of Christ, God’s seal of approval on the messages you are about to share.” Joy filled my heart as I pondered the faithfulness of my heavenly Bridegroom and the great love He has for His bride.
Another thought popped into my head as I was preparing for the retreat, a simple way to acknowledge the leading of the Lord and pay Him the honor that He alone is due. A soft voice inside of me suggested I mark the places in my lectures that God confirmed to me in various ways. I felt led to indicate certain sections with a “sealed with a kiss” graphic to indicate the numerous times and places where God “kissed” my messages with His confirming seal of approval. I recorded these revelations (“holy kisses”) for God’s glory, the audience’s edification, and my remembrance, lest I ever forget that any good thing that comes from me is because of His great redemptive love and divine inspiration. My research took me from glory to glory as the Lord poured His uncircumstantial joy into me!
This Bible study comes from Zephaniah 3:17: “He will rejoice over you with singing.” Hallelujah! Can you imagine Almighty God, the Creator of the universe, singing over you? It is true! Now for a moment, let your imagination go wild with this unfathomable thought. Have you ever considered what God’s singing voice sounds like? I imagine He has perfect pitch and unlimited range, from the deepest base to the highest operatic soprano and everything in between and beyond. I imagine God sings “tunes and tones” that man has never heard. I imagine that God’s voice can make the world stand still. The Bible tells us that our Lord created the universe with His spoken words. His voice is mighty!
The Holy Spirit continued speaking and blowing “holy kisses” to me long after the retreat concluded. The end result was a brand new study for BibleInteract, a workbook designed to “squeeze” joy out of believers even during seasons of great pain and despair. I hope you will jump on the “joy train” with me when the book is released soon. Open your heart to the message of complete surrender, and allow the Lord to rejoice over you with singing. I can’t think of a better way to begin the new year than with a fresh baptism of holy joy that has been “sealed with a kiss” from our heavenly Bridegroom.
Happy New Year!
