The book of Isaiah is divided into three distinct historical periods. In Part 2 of this program (Is 40-55), the two southern tribes of Judah and Benjamin have been in captivity in Babylon for 70 long and difficult years. Isaiah begins to speak for God wonderful words of comfort including prophetic passages about the coming Messiah and the suffering servant. We highly recommend that you complete Isaiah Part 1 before beginning Part 2 because the program builds on skills you have already learned and practiced. Isaiah Part Three (Is 56-66) – We highly recommend that you complete Isaiah Part Two before beginning Part Three because the program builds on skills you have already learned and practiced. In Part Three of this program, Cyrus king of Persia has captured Babylon, and has permitted any Jews who choose to return to the land of Israel to make the long trek home. Only a small number of Jews returned, and they are called a remnant. This course will take you deeper in your understanding and will also teach you how you can learn to penetrate a depth of meaning. The program is designed either for group study or for individual work with a study partner in order to facilitate dialogue and discussion.
