▶️  Qumran Caves Excavations: What Did We Find?

In this episode of the Biblical Archaeology from the Ground Down podcast, we explore “Qumran Caves Excavations: What Did We Find?” with a deep dive into the discoveries at Caves 53A and 53B. Special guest Dr. Randall Price, who led the excavation team, joins co-host Dr. David E. Graves, the Registrar of Finds for the historic 2017 dig at Cave 53A. Both are retired professors from Liberty University, where Dr. Graves served as the Subject Matter Expert for the online archaeology program and Dr. Price was the resident archaeology professor. They recount leading students, professors, and volunteers under Dr. Oren Gutfeld of Hebrew University in a two-week excavation to bedrock of Cave 53A in 2017, followed by the 2019 exploration of the adjacent twin Cave 53B. Featuring original film clips and remarkable finds—the first in over 60 years—the discussion reveals evidence of Dead Sea Scroll remains in the Jordan Valley, linking back to the famous 1950s discoveries. This work was spotlighted on the front cover of National Geographic magazine in December 2018. More details at https://smyrnaean.blogspot.com/2017/02/the-twelfth-dead-sea-scroll-cave-is.html.
